‘So why didn’t you go after her then?’

‘Because, my friend, she was the marrying kind,’ came the red-haired man's blithe answer. ‘I am not the marrying kind. I am the one-night standing kind.’

‘Very sensible,’ someone else said. ‘If more people knew themselves so well, we wouldn’t have so many divorces.’

‘Or marriages, either,’ the first put in. ‘That’s always been my solution; the only way to reduce divorces is stop allowing marriages…’

‘Clearly, we must all start living in sin,’ the red-haired man remarked. ‘The moral fibre of the nation demands it.’
